Cardigan comeback

beyond vintage at saks

Beyond Vintage at Saks

I have always loved the look of a simple cardigan.  My all time favorite is a cashmere with matching buttons, usually black of course.

Now that I am in Florida, a cardigan is key… take everywhere. On, off, on again the temperature inside and out is always changing.  Black……..not so much!

So in search of a few for my closet, and one for the car, I decided I needed more than one or two.

The one thing I like about a cardigan, at least for me is that I carry my extra weight right smack dab in the middle. So wearing a short cardigan is my preference. Getting older is a challenge as pants are cut for the perfect silhouette, so making sure I don’t have a baggy butt is now key.  Gravity…….definitely overrated!

Yoga a few times a week and of course my favorite invention, 5% lycra in every pant should help, at least for the next decade!

In the meantime….here are some of my favorites and where you may be able to snag one for yourself.

bright cardi

Bright color block

This one seems like a good choice to add color to my very black (no more) wardrobe.  I think it would be best paired with my JBrand cropped skinny dark rinse jeans but also like the idea of wearing with DL1961 Opal Angel skinnies for a chic dressier look.  A nice sleek nude sandal will finish it off.

halogen cardigan

I love this look for the working girl.  Very easy with a vintage appeal to it.  A recent Elle issue is touting mint green as a comeback……….I see a lot of markdowns on the sale racks come March.  You may want to wait for a deep discount on this one. But……..over a white tank top and dark jeans with a cute sandal?  Priceless!

Foil dot = walmart

I may have to get to Walmart and see what this is all about.  If done in the right synthetic (is there such a thing?) it could be cute.  Again, don’t try to be too serious so just a white tank and ripped up jeans. If you want to do with a pencil skirt, keep it charcoal and wear one size smaller than normal for a sexy take.

free people

Free People

Love Free People and the way it is layered over an animal print silk is gorgeous.  The deep wine color is also a hit in my book.  I would put this over a light brown thin wale corduroy crop with a distressed Frye boot. Easy and effortless, but a great look.

Intarsia cardigan

I love Intarsia.  This you can get at JCrew, LLBean or Brooks Brothers.  I like it best with a pencil skirt but could also see it paired with a black crop pant, sling back Manolos and over a simple white blouse (don’t tuck).

Vintage Madmen

This is so vintage and soooo Madmen!    Unfortunately very few gals can wear this short style from the 50’s and even fewer can pull off the mustard color.   The good news is you can find them in just about every thrift store in a variety of colors.  Good luck on your search!

moon collection

Moon collection

This is a no brainer…….add a Kelly Bag in this amazing shade of green and pair it with a pair of dark ripped up jeans and you and Kate Moss can meet for lunch!Love this style as it is like the perfect jean jacket.  Don’t get hung up on matching these sweaters.  Add a pair of charcoal grey pants for a classic look…..over a striped shirt!   Why not?

so cute with frames

J Crew

OK…..I just want to look like this girl.  Nice easy hairstyle, awesome frames for her gorgeous face and an easy charcoal wool slim cardigan.  Wear it anywhere with or without a belt and over black jeans, a pencil skirt or even a leather mini……..perfect for every occasion!

Trend United

Sweet as could be!  Would be even sexier with curves but either way a great little vintage look.  Here over a short organza skirt but I would love to see it with a white chanel tweed skirt.  Dress it up or wear with jeans, a really great look!

white and warren

White and Warren

Classic, sexy, wear alone over a sexy cami or as shown with a hot white tank and a pair of those colored jeans that still have the tags on.  Go on, wear them with your easy cardigan and a pair of sexy kitten heels and see what happens!

This week I will leave you with a new favorite quote:

SO FAR……….so good!!
